We are still at Jen’s house. We woke up to some bad news this morning in that we found that during the night someone had used a bolt cutter to cut the lock that was securing the generator to the back of the trailer and had stolen the generator. We filed a report with the police but without any identifiable markings on the generator it is not very likely it will be recovered. I guess that kind of theft is pretty common in the Maricopa area. The police officer got a call about some people stealing appliances from a vacant home as he was filling out the report about the generator.
I am extremely annoyed in as much as it means that I will need to find a new and either inferior or more expensive solution to the generator now. I really liked having it on the back like it was because I could start it without moving it to power the trailer. Now I have pretty solid evidence that having the generator on the back of the trailer is not a very secure model. Luckily the bikes were not bothered. I am not sure if there is really much I can do with them. We don’t have room for them anywhere but on top of the Suburban. There is a chance I will be able to recover the cost of the generator through an insurance claim however that still leaves me needing to find a new solution.
If anyone in the neighbor hood has a camera on the street it would be pretty easy to find the car of the perpetrators in as much as I don’t think there is much residential traffic on a Sunday morning in a neighborhood like this. I took a walk around the block and didn’t see any obvious cameras.
I am kind of tempted to put some more bait on the back of the trailer and watch through a couple more nights to try and catch the people that are doing the stealing however I don’t really think there would be much good that would come from it. I don’t believe it is healthy to feed desires for revenge. But it would feel good …

We finished watching conference. I will need to revisit a couple of the talks. I found some irony in having too much child noise in the room to hear the talk about how to rear children and how to appreciate them while they are small. For the most part they were reasonably quite but for some reason got loud through that talk.
We had a joint family home evening with the Becksteads. The kids didn’t seem to have any trouble with the idea that Jesus didn’t hate the person that stole our generator. If Jesus doesn’t hate them I shouldn’t. I just need to figure out how to power my mobile life now.
I truly am grateful to only have small and simple problems right now.
